Las Vegas, Nevada/Colorado/Arizona/Utah
National Park Tour - 5 Days
This tour is a classic, but a very fast, 5 day southern Utah tour
that begins and ends in Las Vegas, Nevada. The itinerary includes
each of the five National Parks, Monument Valley, part of the Navajo
Nation, Ancient Puebloan (Anasazi) Indians to the Mormon settlements,
and beautiful scenery and State Parks along the way.
Day 1 - Las Vegas to Bryce Canyon National Park
- Spend 3 hours traveling from Las Vegas, Nevada to the entrance
of Zion National Park
- Travel through the scenic wonders of Zion National Park on
to
- Bryce Canyon National Park via the Scenic Byway 12 "All
American Road" (approximately 1 1/2 hours)
- Enjoy the giant amphitheaters with millions of pink rock pinnacles
in Bryce Canyon National Park
- Dinner at one of the local restaurants
- Overnight at or near Bryce Canyon National Park
Day 2 - Bryce Canyon/Capitol Reef/Canyonlands National
Parks
- Continue traveling the "All American Road" to Escalante
Petrified Forest State Park, home to large specimens of petrified
wood and dinosaur fossils
- Rest stop at the Anasazi Indian Village State Park at Boulder
- Proceed north to the rugged landscape of Capitol Reef National
Park, hideout for the infamous Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch
- Travel 3 1/2 hours to Canyonlands National Park (Moab)
- Dinner at local eatery in downtown Moab
- Overnight in Moab
Day 3 - Arches National Park/Mesa Verde National Park
- Morning tour of Arches National Park, the world's largest concentration
of natural stone arches
- Travel through Monticello to view Horse Head Peak and continue
on to Cortez, Colorado (approximately 2 1/2 hours)
- While in Cortez take a side trip to Mesa Verde National Park,
one of the world's most well known archaeological sites (approximately ½ hour)
- Dinner at the Far View Lodge in Mesa Verde National Park
- Overnight in Cortez
Day 4 - Cortez/Four State Corners/Lake Powell/Page (Glen
Canyon National Recreation Area)
- Drive an hour to Four State Corners (only point in U.S. common
to 4 state corners)
- Side trip to Bluff, through the Navajo Indian Reservation to
view
- Monument Valley
- Travel 2 1/2 hours to surrealistic landscapes of buttes, and
peaks of Lake Powell/Page
- Dinner cruise Lake Powell as the sun sets, casting a dramatic
color transformation on the red rock canyons surrounding the
Lake
- Overnight in Lake Powell/Page
Day 5 - Grand Canyon South Rim/Las Vegas
- Travel 3 hours to see the grandeur of the Grand Canyon South
Rim
- After a short visit to the South Rim return to Las Vegas (approximately
4 hours)
